BENGALURU: Chief minister Siddaramaiah assured the legislative assembly on Tuesday that files related to Arkavathy land issue would be submitted, when asked by the Justice HS Kempanna commission, which is probing into the allegations of denotification done from 2003 to 2014.
The Arkavathy denotification issue, which the BJP has raised it at every public platform, figured in the House too with the Congress and opposition parties hurling charges against each other.
The BJP’s contention is Siddaramaiah denotified 541 acres ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 of which 119 acres did not have BDA’s approval. The CM has maintained that the denotification was a modified one done as per the high court’s directives.
While opposition leader Jagadish Shettar maintained that government was not cooperating with the Justice Kempanna commission, the CM said the commission was yet to seek information and the government would send the files in accordance with the probing agency's requirements.
Initiating discussion on governor's address, Basavaraja Rayaraddi (Congress) displayed the booklet released by the BJP on Arkavathy denotification and termed it as a "bundle of lies.’’ Rebutting, Shettar sought to know if that was the case why was the government hesitant to submit files to the judicial commission. ``Files pertaining to denotification are being forged. Many illegal things are being done behind close doors," he alleged.
Siddaramaiah maintained the opposition leader without proper information should not comment on the floor of the House. "No one is involved in forgery act. The observations made are far from truth. There is nothing to hide from any one. The moment the commission seeks the documents, government will submit them without delay. The BJP is trying to propagate false things, by repeating them 100 times," he said.
Supporting the CM, Rayaraddi said under 48(1) of the Land Acquisition Act, the Siddaramaiah-government has not indulged in denotification of even an inch of land. "The BJP by making it an issue is trying to fix its own leader BS Yeddyurappa," he added.
Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa disallowed further discussion maintaining that a judicial commission was probing the allegations and hence cannot be discussed on floor of the House.
